        1、Geographic Climate
            Luqiao, one of the main city zones of Taizhou in Zhejiang, lies at the middle part of Zhejiang coastland, the middle section of Chinese Gold Coast. In Luqiao with hills on the back and the sea in front alternate with each other hills and plains. In addition to numerous rivers and lakes, it has the vast shallow foreshore with total area being 21.33 square kilometers. With west-east length of 33.3 kilometers and north-south width of 18.8 kilometers, it is at the junction of 28°27′~28°38′N. Latitude and 121°13′~121°40′E. Longitude, it has the subtropical monsoon climate.


        2、Historical Evolution

         Luqiao has its ancient name called Xin’an, where “10-li Street”, one of the currently largest ancient buildings in Zhejiang, was built in the period from Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, adjacent to a river with buildings on both banks. Its history can retrospect to West Zhou Dynasty and whose name came from Zhao Gou, one of the emperors of South Song Dynasty when he removed southward. Luqiao belonged to Huiji in the Qin Dynasty (222 BC), and had been placed under the jurisdiction of Zhang’an since Guang Wu Di, the first emperor of East Han Dynasty (25-36 A.D.) came into power. In the 2nd Shangyuan Year of Gao Zong, one of the emperors of Tang Dynasty, (675 A.D.) it was put under the control of Yongning. Luqiao came under the jurisdiction of Huangyan renamed from the former Yongning in the 1st Tianshou Year (690 A.D.) of Wu Hou, the empress of Tang Dynasty. Luqiao had been under Huangyan County, Huangyan City since the birth of New China, until it was reestablished as a district of Taizhou as a city approved by the State Council in August 1994.

        3、Population and Region
            Luqiao covers total inland area of 276.6 square kilometers and completed city-zone area of 29.25 square kilometers, with 4 towns and 6 subdistricts under its jurisdiction and total population of 0.4293 million.
